Find Your Vibe — Your community to keep your spirits up and support you when working remotely.

Are you feeling stressed working from home?
Bored and lonely?
Confused about what is expected of you?

While working from home has become the new normal for many of us, it doesn't mean that it can still pose challenges. Finding your vibe can be a challenge in and of it itself. With this in mind, we will be sharing some simple ways to:

1.    Escape boredom

  • Create a designated workspace: Designate a specific area in your home for work to mentally separate it from leisure spaces.

  • Change up your environment: Move to different areas of your home throughout the day to keep things fresh.

  • Take short breaks for activities you enjoy: Incorporate short breaks to engage in activities like reading, listening to music, or doing a quick workout to break up monotony.

2.    Stay Focused

  • Set a schedule: Establish a routine that includes designated work hours to maintain focus and productivity.

  • Break tasks into smaller chunks: Divide larger tasks into smaller, manageable parts to prevent overwhelm and maintain concentration.

  • Use productivity tools: Utilise tools like task managers, time-tracking apps, or website blockers to stay on track and minimise distractions.

3.    Cope without colleagues

  • Schedule virtual check-ins: Set up regular video calls or chat sessions with colleagues to maintain social connections and combat feelings of isolation.

  • Join online communities: Participate in online forums or professional networks related to your industry to connect with like-minded individuals and seek support.

  • Reach out for support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or mentors for virtual support and encouragement when needed.

4.    Communicate effectively

  • Use video conferencing tools: Utilise video calls for meetings to facilitate clearer communication and maintain a sense of connection with coworkers.

  • Provide regular updates: Keep colleagues informed about your progress and any relevant updates through email, messaging apps, or project management tools.

  • Be proactive in asking for clarification: If you’re unsure about something, don’t hesitate to ask questions to ensure you have a clear understanding of expectations and tasks.

5.    Reset expectations

  • Set realistic goals: Establish achievable goals based on your current circumstances and resources to avoid burnout and frustration.

  • Prioritise tasks: Identify high-priority tasks and focus on completing those first to manage workload effectively.

  • Communicate boundaries: Clearly communicate your availability and boundaries to colleagues and supervisors to manage expectations and maintain work-life balance.
